Black Swan
The black swan is common in Australia and New Zealand. It was thought to be extinct in New Zealand and reintroduced to the central lakes of the north island in 1860. Biologists have found evidence that the black swan may have been living in remote lakes all the time and there is some indication that migration occurs between Australia and New Zealand.
Scientific name: Cygnus atratus
