wow, what a place. The stark, decayed appearance is a direct visual counterpoint to the real meaning of that Holy Ground. The crosses add drama, dimension and different tonal ranges that really tap into the spiritual drama of the antiquity, it's surroundings and the desire for humans to elevate themselves above the physical realm.
