strangely enough, to me it doesn't look hopeless! bleak and barren? yes, but the fake ; )) "blue sky" in the "honeycombed" window of the house, and the touch of color on the clothes lines make all the difference, and add a modest and unique beauty to the place! like the shot a lot! greetings, sabine.
