Palisades from Desert View...Grand Canyon
The vertical faces of the cliffs called 'Palisades of the Desert' mark the eastern end of the readily accessible part of the south rim of Grand Canyon N.P.
Here you see them from relatively close up at Desert View, the easternmost public observation point along the East Rim Drive.
Beyond lies a vast stretch of the Colorado Plateau, cut by various tributaries to the Colorado River, including the Little Colorado. And in the far distance, barely visible, are the towering Echo Cliffs and Vermilion Cliffs.
