Rob, I am against all kind of frames or canvas in the images, at least in a screen. When you have your work printed, usually you will choose a neutral frame to present it.
Even when I have seen lately all kinds of presentation, from PVC separated from the wall, to "boxes" made with black frame, white paspartou and glass.
I have added a black - or white - canvas just to separate the image from distracting backgrounds, and to have the oportunity to sign them. Signing them for me is like closing the editing, is finishing the cicrle...
