I got lucky... but thanks.
I used a 50 mm F1.4 Lense... what a difference a good lense makes. The trick now will be to repeat this performance and be consistent. Thanks.

Thanks for your feedback. This one looks really great printed. It is actually on my wall in the kitchen. But you are correct - it is not the sharpest.
Owen
Dank.
Stefan, I need to be straight with you - I created this effect with Photoshop.
Here is how:
1. Duplicate the background layer
2. Apply Radial Blur (Selected Motion and adjust the centre to align with your picture subject; also adjust the percentage of the blur')
3. Then use the eraser tool (on the duplicate layer) to reveal the parts of the sharper background image
4. Flatten image when ready
Hope I didn't disappoint you. I learned how to do this from a Digital Camera Magazine about two weeks ago.

Dank, bin ich Sie mag es froh.
This was taken on a 4 day trip to California in April of 2008 on an overcast morning. Thought it looked interesting when I turned it to black and white and reduced the brightness. If you've never been to Laguna beach, I think you and your family would fit right in.
That is meant to be a compliment - assuming the pictures in your portfolio are of your family.
Owen
Thanks - Glad you like it!
This picture was taken on a very bright August day, with the same 18 - 200 mm Nikon Lense on a D 80 with no tripod; on the pre-programmed S setting. Didn't expect much but it worked out to be a good action shot.
Owen
You are correct. This is not a sharp picture, but I posted it anyway because I like it too. (I am so unhappy with the 18-200mm Nikon Lense - it is really not that sharp at all, especially in less than perfect daylight - and it is just not feasible to carry a tripod everywhere).
