Since the very ancient times, Nafplio was one of the strongest naval bases in the Mediterranean Sea and always a desired occupational site for seafighting preparatios first for the Byzantines and then for Venecians and Ottomans till Greece was declared Independent state(1828) and became its first capital.Acronafplia is a peninsula extending in the sea and which represented the city's most fortified part along the centuries.

your shots of Nauplia don't match my memories of the place, unfortunately(you are too conscious of your b/w style. Nauplia (Nafplio) was full of colour for me!
