Another Shadow

This little girl followed me into someone's house just outside the city of Sangzhao. She was so solemn. Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. She walked straight up to me, offered me the blade of grass she had been twisting, and twirling between her fingers then tottered off. She was fed up of being ignored, and her mother, and grandmother were waiting for her on the other side of the wall. What you can't see is that her cheeks were as rosy as her coat, and round like ripe apples.
