      Not very sharp ;
      a bit soft, I think -

      but heigh-ho

      I was grateful for "the sunlight on the garden" ; (another poem).

      Yes, I loved it.
      Shropshire - with its fields, and gentle hills, and its prospects to the west and the wilder hills of wales - is sometimes regarded as the quintessentially English landscape.
      It inspired the extremely popular poetry of A E Housman (1859 -1936) ; such as this -

      Blue Remembered Hills

      Into my heart an air that kills
      From yon far country blows:
      What are those blue remembered hills,
      What spires, what farms are those?

      That is the land of lost content,
      I see it shining plain,
      The happy highways where I went
      And cannot come again.

      Mark.

      With all respect, I can't figure out why this poem is acclaimed with such high reputations. Which one is the punch line ?The descriptions of the selected images in this poem are quite ambiguous, I guess that's why the author had chosen to use additional subjective words?e.g. kill, blue, lost content, happy,  to express in a blunt way that he is nostalgic and not happy. Here are some of my favourite lines in Chinese poems about nostalgia. 1."Starting from tonight, the dew is gonna turn white. It's the moon from my homeland that's always the shiniest."   2."If the moon has emotions, he should have recognised me. After all, we meet each other at a foreign place every year." 3. "People always say, over those far mountains where the sun sets,  that's where the hometown is. How come I never caught the glimpse of my hometown, no matter how hard and how long I gaze."4."The shiny moon is rising above the sea, and I know someone over there is also watching it right now with me."
