Big Daddy - reaching the top
... backpack on my back, filled with at least 3 liters of water, lunch, snacks, extra clothes and camera gear - I was not very well prepared for that!! - I wished we could have hiked up the ridge of Big Daddy like all the tourists but no, we hiked up the very steep side of the dune as we were heading towards another direction. A direction where only groups with permission can go - a direction with nothing and no one in sight for days, no internet or phone service, no noise...... it was heavenly :)
I know this is a very confusing picture and I am trying to explain what I saw. I am standing on top of the Big Daddy dune that I just hiked up - looking straight down to the Deadvlei valley where I came from. It was extremely steep and hiking in soft sand made it even harder - 3 steps forward, one back!

Ich hätte das ohne Erklärung wiedererkannt. Wenn Du einmal auf dem BIG DADDY gestanden hast, dann erkennst das DEAD VLEI sofort wieder.Sehr schöne Ansicht von oben nach unten.
