These two young Lesser Sandhill Cranes were coming right towards me on the walkway ... what a treat !!!
The Lesser Sandhill Crane has a red forehead, white cheeks and a long dark pointed bill. Its long dark legs trail behind in flight, and the long neck is kept straight in flight. Immature birds have reddish brown upperparts and gray underparts (Wiki).

another beautiful capture of the magnificent birds! from this angle his eye looks almost red, matching the feathers on his forehead perfectly! and now we know: the lesser sandhill crane is not only a curious species but also one with a great sense of the picturesque: the the "u-shape" of their pose, the two long necks with heads pointing in opposite directions – so great!! hugs, sabine.
