Das Kap Agulhas (port. für Nadelkap; Afrikaans Kaap Agulhas; engl. Cape Agulhas) ist der südlichste Punkt des afrikanischen Kontinents, nicht, wie oft angenommen, das Kap der Guten Hoffnung. Es liegt bei 34°50'S 20°01'O. Der Meridian, der am Kap Agulhas verläuft, stellt die Grenze zwischen Atlantischem und Indischem Ozean dar.
Kap Agulhas wurde 1488 erstmals von Bartolomeu Diaz erreicht. Cabo das Agulhas ist portugiesisch für „Kap der Nadeln“. Vermutlich gaben ihm die Seefahrer den Namen wegen seiner zahlreichen Felsen und Riffe. Das Aufeinandertreffen verschiedener Meeresströmungen führt oft zu hohem Wellengang, die Gewässer um Kap Agulhas gelten deswegen und wegen der Riffe als sehr gefährlich.
Cape Agulhas (Portuguese: Cabo das Agulhas, "Cape of Needles") is the geographic southern tip of the African continent, commonly thought to be the nearby Cape of Good Hope, and is defined for hydrographic purposes to be the dividing point between the Atlantic and Indian oceans. Historically, the cape has been known to sailors as a major hazard on the traditional clipper route and is sometimes regarded as one of the great capes. It was most commonly known in English as Cape Lagullas until the 20th century.
