Traditionally Greece and Turkey are mentioned and remembered as “enemy countries”. This is a concept which has been established and fostered by geopolitical issues imposed and routed over centuries by politics, which have not been reflecting always the overall feelings of the people across the two sides of the Aegean Sea. In both countries the history we have taught in our schools is not the history that we know now. I have several friends in Istanbul, Ankara, Ismir and Antalya. I have a friend married to a Turk, and a friend from Ismir, whose grandmother was Greek and she remembers greek lullabies.
The image was taken on a happy Sunday morning at the park along the Marmara Sea waterfront. Those were wonderful peaceful days before terror shadows people's life...Istanbul, May 2013
