La Croix du Prieur
'Hohes Venn' is the greatest and oldest National Park of Belgium and the most unique nature biotope in the land with a sub-alpine micro climate.
Under the great mass of snow lies a whole area of vast and desolate swamps.
This cross (named 'la croix du prieur') is in memory of tragic events.
In the past, many people lost their life in the swamp while trying to traverse the then perilous plateau.
The first cross on this particular place was already erected in 1566.
Location : Les Potales at Baraque Michel (Hohes Venn, Belgium)
