On the edge

The Bastei is a rock formation towering 194 metres above the Elbe River in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains of Germany. Reaching a height of 305 metres above sea level, the jagged rocks of the Bastei were formed by water erosion over one million years ago and are the major landmark of the Saxon Switzerland National Park.

From all your very beautiful pictures of the Bastei, Andy, this is, to my opinion the most impressive. The group of people offers a very good evidence of scale but the next amazing thing is the hight of the trees as they rise in paralell to the rocks.Excellent detail on the rock surface as well.

Good view of the rocks and the figures give a good sense of scale :-)) Harold
