Orange Hornet Head (Vespa crabro)
This 20times magnification of a hornet head is one of my favorites.
Hope you like it, too.
Technique: Sony DSC-F828 combined with inversely attached Minolta f1.4/50mm lens; bath towel as "stable" support (had no handy tripod around ;-).
Please note that DOF was a real problem with this particularly "big" stuff. If you are using this kind of equipment, smaller things like e.g. fly or mosquito heads are much easier. Therefore, I tried to direct the eye of the beholder towards the mandibles and one antennae. Hope it worked :-)

Schöne Nähe und auch der Ausschnitt paßt - das mit der gleichmäßigen Schärfe ist problematisch, bei mir auch...Die Nähe zu Hornissen habe ich dieses Jahr auch erstmalig getestet - ist eigentlich harmlos..
