Potala Palace
Tibet Lasa
The legendary sacred palace of Potala- official residency of Holy Lieder Dalahilama till he was dethroned and forced to exile by Chinese occupation- is the religious, historical and political landmark of Tibetian people in their capital city of Lasa. Everyday the palace(Temple) is packed with people conducting their rituals ( please refer to relevant photos in my gallery)and eternally praying for the reinstation of their independent state and the return of their leader. Chinese grip, though, is lethal and quite evident everywhere.
In the photo (a Velvia 50 slide positive turned later to digital) the imposing bulk of Potala, in the center of Lasa, as it is eternally crowned by those gorgeous Tibetian clouds( only slightly enhanced in contrast by Photoshop!)

epic and dramatic, i agree! my first thought, when looked up it was: that the cloud looked like a tsunami about to wash over the place from behind and turn it into a second atlantis… and awe-inspiring image, very effectively rendered and presented in beautiful tones! greetings, sabine.Lelya Bryzhina 27/11/2013 16:34
