Spring Afternoon, Mount Vernon Place - a Baltimore Impression

An inviting space to relax in warm sunshine, amidst the pastels of spring, with a view of
the Washington Monument...This is Mount Vernon Place East in midtown Baltimore.

Mount Vernon Place features four open green spaces to east, west, north, and south
of the Washington Monument coming together at the cobblestoned traffic circle that
carries North Charles and East and West Monument Streets around the monument.

It is a vibrant cultural center in the city, including the Walters Art Gallery on the west side
and the Peabody Conservatory on the east, seen here at left with its founder George Peabody
sitting serenely in his sculpture, facing the monument to the first President of the United States.

Beyond the trees at right can be seen the spire of the Mount Vernon
United Methodist Church at the northeast corner of the traffic circle.

Mount Vernon Place also features many fine restaurants nearby and is only a short walk from the
Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, home of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the Lyric Opera House.

Thank you, Susanne! It was indeed a perfect Spring afternoon and it inspired lots of shooting, both from atop the Monument and around the inviting stretches of green on all four sides. It has been such a pleasure to get back to the old home town and capture some of its many special spots, whether digitally or on film, especially on days like this one.
      Warm wishes,
      Steve
