Osios David is one of the most ancient and precious Byzantine treasures of Thessaloniki dating back in the late 5th century AD..it is located in the old town quarter,of the,so called, Upper City and is adorned with rich frescoes and mosaics. Among them, the world famous mosaic "The Vision of prophet Iezechil" representing Jesus in a very young age, one of the rarest existing showing Jesus without a beard among the four animals of the Evangelists. During the years of the Ottoman rule the church was converted into a mosque, the frescoes and mosaics were built under thick layers of plaster till they were brought again in surface and the church reconsecrated into a Greek Othodox monument. The church and the mosaic are enlisted in the World Heritage sites by Unesco and presented often by TV.

One can get there by walking to Upper Town and through a picturesque narrow path reach the gate and the court yard.
