There are many of those solid stone bridges scattered around Greece, all of them constructed by hand by traditional and very skillfull mason builders carrying the craft from father to son. Among them the most famous came from the zagorochoria villages in the region of Epirus, builders not only of bridges but also houses and churches.Kalogeriko is one of the few three stringer bridges still surviving, built around the end of the eighteenth century. Its cogged lodges and the harmonious line of the three stringers make it resemble a crawling caterpillar in the excess of green. Initially of wood was later turned to solid stone with the sponsoring of Serafeim, the abbott of Kipoi's monastery. These elementary bridges were very important in their time connecting neighbouring villages.
