The Fungi World (136) : Orange Birch Bolete

The Orange Birch Bolete is a fungus that grows only under birches, mostly on acid moorland.

2011 seems to be a good year for Birch Boletes, as it’s already the third species that I found this autumn (see pictures below).

However, the Orange Birch Bolete stands on the Red List of vulnerable and threatened species !

Dutch name : Oranje Berkenboleet
German name : Birkenrotkappe
Latin name : Leccinum versipelle
