This series is an attempt to illustrate how life was going on in the Middle Ages.

Iron helmets were an important part of the combat equipment of a knight and they existed in various shapes.
I will show you the 4 most popular types.

Here’s the 2nd, a model that was very liked among crusaders, knights who were specially selected to fight in one of the crusades(°).

(°) : The medieval crusades were a series of religious wars, blessed by the pope and the catholic church, with the main goal of restoring christian access to the holy places in and near Jerusalem.

I can imagine a large group of crusaders coming towards the enemy .... so intimidating all in black and with these helmets hiding heads and faces, only the shape of the Maltese Cross white and bright - this helmet also quite claustrophobic and the vision so restricted . great your image and so interesting !!!

Dieser Helm wirkt ja fast schon neuzeitlich im Vergleich zum vorherigen Modell!!!
Die Kreuze auf seinen Bekleidungsstücken weisen ihn sicherlich als Kreuzzugteilnehmer aus...
Deine Aufnahme ist wunderbar und das Licht und die Farben gefallen mir sehr!!!!
