The Whistler Train Wreck (3)

In 1956 a freight train going too fast came off the tracks just south of Whistler - they managed to salvaged 9 wagons, but 7 had ro be left here in the woods and have become a tourist attraction with their colourful graffiti paintings inside and outside the wreck, I had a ball taking pictures and will show you just a few ... I believe this was wagon Nr. 5... it was a 4 km return walk into the woods and across a river to get to the site.

These wrecks have been lying in the woods for almost 70 years and are an attraction for local residents and tourists. Couldn't a train stop have been set up for visitors along the hopefully still existing railroad line? According to Google Maps, there are still tracks going by

  thank you, Matthias, my answer about the train is below the previous picture. I think that the painting of the waggons and therefore attraction to visitors is fairly recent ....I also think that people should go to the trouble of walking to the site if they want to see them.

  merci, Lily-Rose - je comprends votre inquiétude, mais il est difficile d’imaginer à quel point la forêt est dense dans cette région et qu’il faudrait traverser une rivière rapide et à quelle distance se trouve une route appropriée.Il y a 7 grands wagons de marchandises dans cette zone - une tâche presque impossible pour les sortir d’ici.
