Tree - Sycamore Gap, Hadrians Wall
Some years ago visiting Newcastle upon Tyne, my English Friend took us for a hike to the Hadrian Wall. One highlight among many was this beautiful tree located in the so called Sycamore Gap of the Hadrian Wall. This tree has over long time become one of UK's most famous trees. Partly also because it had been featured in the 1991 film "Robin Hood: the Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner. Just yesterday the news reached me that about a day ago someone had deliberately chopped down this about 300 year old tree over night. Vandalism - WHY?
