7-Scape No. 12 - Flushing-Bound 7 Train Approaches Queensboro Plaza Station
While my 7-Scapes series was designed around following the 7 Train of the New York City Subway system along journeys from Grand Central to Flushing, Queens, this happens to be a rather unique station where 7 trains share the platform with trains of the B Division, specifically here on the upper level platform, the Astoria-bound N & W trains. Thus, the two tracks seen here are both outbound from Manhattan.
They converge from different (easterly) directions to meet here,
and will diverge in different (westerly) directions on their Queens routes.
So, what about inbound to Manhattan and/or Brooklyn? That happens
downstairs on the lower level of this elevated structure in Long Island City.
Rounding a sweeping curve under the iconic Silvercup Studios sign in Long Island City,
Queens, a Flushing-bound 7 Train of recent design R-188 cars approaches Queensboro Plaza
Station in the bright sunshine of a late afternoon in June..

This image is part of my series of photographs following the long, shiny trains
of the MTA's IRT No. 7 Flushing Line. The interest started a l-o-n-g time ago :-)
