7Scape No.15 - Dine and Ride
Court Square Station is the last elevated stop along the route of the 7 Train on its way into Manhattan, the last
two stops in Long Island City, Queens, being underground. Here, a Manhattan-bound 7 departs the platform.
The Court Square station is actually a large and fascinating complex of elevated and underground lines of the
New York City Subway system. The station house offers airy glass-enclosed connections to the underground IND G Crosstown Local trains to Brooklyn and, on a separate platform, the IND Queens Boulevard Line E and M trains to destinations in Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn.
And, if one craves a satisfying breakfast or other meal prior to or after the ride, the Court Square Diner is conveniently located just beside a station entrance..Indeed, many photo-jaunts on the NYC Subway have begun there with a filling Frühstück with F-C photog and fellow Subway devotee Hans-Gerd Hacker who introduced me to this popular eatery.
My "7Scapes" series, born of a long-standing fascination with the route of the 7 Train (*) traces the long shiny trains at many points along their long journey between Flushing, Queens and Hudson Yards in Manhattan. Other "7Scapes" can be found in my "New York City" folder.
