A Man of Estonia at Song Festival, summer 2009
Once in every 5 years, about 30 000 singer in choirs and ansembles of dancers gather together to sing and dance the folk and national songs of Estonia. This has been a tradition held since 1869, which was stopped during the occupation of Soviet Union in Estonia. In the last decade of 20th century, Estonians gathered together to sing the songs again, it all happened during the night to avoid being stopped by the military of Soviet Union, this was a grand symbol of our true desire for our independence.
This summer I was very proud to see so many singers and dancers dressed in folk alphets and more than 100 000 people in the audience.
this man stood up many times to sing along the songs...even at times when the rest of the people were sitting.
