aerial photo - northern Yorke Peninsula, Sth Australia

26 February 2005, looking to the southwest, showing at left foreground the town of Kadina (with converging roads) in northern Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. To centre right the nearby seaport of Wallaroo lies adjacent to Spencer Gulf. The old copper mining town of Moonta lies beyond Kadina, barely visible.

This region is renowned for production of barley (used in making beer), and for the maintenance of traditions inherited from Cornish copper miners who settled here from the 1860's. The region is known as the "Copper Coast" or the "Cornish Triangle".

The small seaport of Wallaroo is a popular location for retirees, and hosts the regional hospital.
