along the Old Main - No. 3
On this wintry late afternoon in mid-November in the Patapsco Valley, only the
gold of some fallen leaves attests to the passing Autumn’s vibrant palette.
The setting is Woodstock, Maryland, where the historic B&O Old Main Line
takes some sweeping curves as it follows the course of the Patapsco River.
While the Old Main is mainly single-tracked, Woodstock provides a long passing siding, accounting
for the two tracks seen here, as CSX 7826, a GE C40-8W diesel electric locomotive, and her partner-in-
rumble-grumble power a heavy eastbound freight around this curve in the direction of Baltimore.
This image is part of a new portfolio of photographs in color and black and white depicting the Old Main at locations between Relay and Point of Rocks, Maryland. They are available in gallery prints and in a new series of custom printed photo note cards of “Scenes along the Old Main.”

"...around the bend... - no, - comes CSX not L&N!
Great shot, Steve, and I think there´s lots of motives around there waiting for your eye and the camera!
