Austrian made C12 reissue 2018

Commemorating the 65th anniversary of the legendary AKG C12 tube microphone we set out to bring back the legend in a very small scale custom project. Here in Vienna where it all started in the 1950ies!

This frist "private" reissue specimen of the legendary Austrian C12 / SM204 studio microphone was a very ambitious effort with Tonstudio FM - owner Franz Masser to elevate his studio´s performance to top level. The microphone was equipped with approved period correct electronic components, a Haufe T14/1 transformer and a real CK12 brass capsule handcrafted in Vienna by Markus Sauschlager using the original manufacturing techniques from the old days.
The C12-specific AKG-logo was lovingly recreated and engraved into the body tube. The microphone´s visual appearance reflects it´s hallmark sound quality.

Anlong with an excellent vintage Bösendorfer grand piano the Viennese studio now boasts the very best of Austrian audio heritage.

This extraordinary microphone could be custom made on special request.
Because of the vintage electronic components (even the original tube sockets!) and the handcrafted Vienna-made CK12 brass capsule that´s built using the historic processes and blueprints this microphone can be pretty much considered a NOS C12. Made in Austria again!

Edit 2022: Discontinued. Unfortunately this project proved not to be rewarding. As great as this microphone is, today it is simply way too expensive to make.
