Bad Girls Go Everywhere ...
...including back in time to ride the New York City Subway system's
"Holiday Nostalgia Train," made up of vintage 1930's R1/9 rail cars.
Sadly, because of the Covid epidemic, the Holiday Nostalgia Trains are not running this year.
But I can certainly indulge in some delicious nostalgia by presenting this photo taken last December, three days before Christmas, in the Second Avenue F train station on Manhattan's Lower East Side, while awaiting departure. The train will run uptown on the IND 6th Avenue line before transitioning to the 8th Avenue line to run express on the route of the A Train, on which these cars first ran, to its destination,145th Street in Harlem, then reverse and return to Second Avenue.
Many who ride these sturdy old vintage growlers enhance their experience by also dressing up in vintage clothing. (*)
Here's hoping for a festive resumption of this delight-packed tradition...next year!
