South Africa
Cape Town
The BoKaap quarter
The BoKaap quarter it's an area of Cape Town known as center of Malay culture and for its brightly colored houses and romantic coble stone streets,
Practically its an area where, especially after the abolition of apartheid, a significant portion of "low class" population that previously lived in precarious conditions in the so called "tin cities" at the periphery of Cape Town, moved seeking not only a better residence but also a sort of social upgrade through a decent community identity. As proof of that they decided to give a distinctive character to their houses painting and decorating them with intense colours.
Recently wealthy outsiders also started moving into the suburb due to the main city expansion in order to settle permanently there.
In the photo a section of that suburb and far behind the top of the Table Mountain, landmark of Cape Town, always covered in clouds...

A good way to brighten up life, and now even the rich are , as we say, jumping on the band-wagon.
The colours are great set against the dark heights of Table Mountain.

    :))
