bossombuddies6 (did you know that the World Health Org.(WHO) recommends breastfeeding until age 2 ?)
This is a series of breastfeeding women and their children. I am in the process of getting them ready for "national breastfeeding awareness week". The aim of these pictures is to show that breastfeeding is something natural and beautiful, and not at all something to be ashamed of. Any comments/ suggestions/ critiques would be greatly appreciated, as these photos will be going up in shops at the end of next week (so i still have time to change things ;o))
Thank you, Petra

This is my favourite from your "Bossom Buddies" series, but then I would have to say that wouldn't I ;-)Seriously though I'm very proud of you for having the courage to stand up for something you believe in and the faith to do what you feel is right no matter what society today may consider to be "normal"! Before I met you I would have found breastfeeding at 2 years to be strange, but you have opened my eyes and I thank you for that.
I wish you every success with your exhibition and I hope that it encourages many other mothers to try to breastfeed their children and give them the start in life that they deserve.

This is the perfect picture for the campaign. The right interaction between mother and son, excellent pose and composition. The high-key procedure works perfect in this one.Up too the wall with this :-)))
Greetings, Cees

thanks Jaime, yeah, the bfeeding discussion... I remember seeing someone bfeeding a toddler when my son was 3months old, and I remember thinking "how strange, what a hippie!". However since then i have done lots of reading and researching, and before i knew it I was also a mother bfeeding a toddler. There is nothing wrong with bfeeding beyond 2years as long as both mum and chld want to. As you say, it varies from child to child and from mum to mum. Personally i am all for giving children the time they need to bfeed. Btw - did you know it is only in the "civilised" world that babies are weaned of their mother's breasts so early?
kind regards,
Petra

thanks Rob & Abdul :)It is a bit of a delictae subject, you are right, i think its because people aren't used to seeing children being breastfed, therefore it becomes akward when you do see one - especially when it's an older child "still" being nurtured at his mother's breast.
At this age any position is ok for feeding (as the picture above shows ;o) It just looks a bit unusual when you're used to the typical "baby on lap" breastfeeding image I guess...

One thing i am not sure, is that position of feeding is right ?
