Browncoal opencast mining "Inden" #1

I live quite near to the RWE brown coal mining pits which supply the RWE power plants nearby with browncoal. In the meantime this subject has moved into a hard discussion considering the greenhouse gas debate, especially in relation to the energy transition project here in Germany. Our government had agreed to enforce the shutdown of these and all other coal fired power plants until 2038. This pit and the related power plant will be shut down latest 2030 or earlier. In 2018 - together with our photo club - I had the opportunity to attend a guided visit in the opencast mining pit "Inden" which supplies the power plant "Weisweiler" nearby. Here a collection of impressions....
