Buddha image in Shwedagon complex

Surrounding the stupa of Shwedagon there are 72 small stone temples, each with a Buddha sculptures inside.
But I was learned the history also from local people:
During the destruction of Ayutthaya in Thailand by Burmese army, hundreds of Siamese golden Buddha images were robbed or plundered, later melted for creaiting Burmese Buddha images.

This photo was captured during my honeymoon in February 1981 and scanned with my NIKON CoolScan V ED.
It makes me fun to select and scann old photos, this reminds me old memories I made during an amazing trip.
