  Thank you Stev. But, as I wrote, these purple coloured stripes heralded rain. And so it was to come in the afternoon!

  Thanks for clarification, Tom. Guess I may have missed something in attempting to translate. I understood the weather change came in the afternoon, but I took the narrower/straighter traces to be contrails from passing aircraft. Anyhow, an exciting image, no matter what was at work in the sky!
  P.S: I see you've decided to have a go at mirrorless Canon of late...

  Well, Steve, indeed you did not misunderstand much. When you watch weather, you may notice that a purple sky, or purple clouds in the morning herald a weather change to rain, and that´s what was also to come along this sunday. May that be indicated by clouds or contrails of planes, the effect is quite the same.
  
  And yes, since 2022 I had decided to turn away from Sony and Nikon as well. Soll all my Sony equipment in favour of two new Canon R3 bodies and several lenses. A decision I never had to regret, in fact the cameras take me to new hights of photography with all the advantages they offer, in special their speed and exactness in tracking fast moving objects, such as trains, planes and the like! And besides this, in general, images that come out ot the camera barely need to be treated further! A big difference to Nikon in special!
