Doi Chang Coffee In The Northern Highlands
The village of Doi Chaang is located in the northern highlands of Chiang Rai province. The village is one of many villages in the region that has received support and kindness from H.M. King Bhumibhol Adulyadej Rama 9 to improve the livelihoods of the people and reduce illegal drug cultivation in the area. In 1969 (2512 B.C.) the farmers of the mountain tribes were motivated to grow winter crops instead of opium. Arabica coffee plants were among the winter crops that were occasionally supported by various governmental organizations.
