...black stones and sand..from the volcanos, I guess. Years ago I've seen a whole beach of that black sand: on the pacific coast in Guatemala. It's a strange feeling to walk over such a black surface...you're always awaiting to get coloured..:))) Ciao, dear sister, buona serata! Love, Ansgar

  Yes, I once found a black beach on the island of Santorini, many years ago.
  On that occasion I had filled a little bag with these shiny black grains to take home (forbidden, I know, but I must confess that I have a marvellous collection of stones, pebbles and sand from many places I have travelled) but the penalty has been that I forgot it in the Jeep we had rented then .... :(((
  As you say it's a strange effect, I too prefer white or pinkish beaches like ones you can easily find in Sardinia, for example.

  Actually, the beaches are made of fine, golden sand.
  What you are seeing in this picture is a flower bed made with volcanic gravel, ideal to accommodate cactus plants. The beach, is just visible further down.

  THANKS FOR THE INFO. BUT VISITING SPAIN AGAIN IS OVER FOR ME... I'M NOT GOING TO GET WATER ON MYSELF AND BE EXCLUDED FROM THERE :-))))))...FOOLS AND BAD EDUCATED. THEY ARE FED UP WITH TOURISM THAT GIVES THEM MILLIONS OF EUROS.
