Eldhraun Trees 1 | Iceland

The 25km long crater row called Lakagigar was created during a relatively short, but catastrophic eruption between the 8th of June 1783 and February 1784, considered among the biggest and most poisonous eruptions of the earth during historical times. Vast lava fields arose from that catastrophic event with a total size of 565 squarekm.

Completely woodless is this stunning piece of the Earth not, but there are not many trees in Iceland! The vikings or norsemen cutted them all down for building homes and for firewood purposes. The sheeps took care of them to not grow back again. Today there are trees but there reign on Iceland is definitely over.

Nature is our Mainspring!
