Escalators, End of Day
After a nice late Sunday supper in downtown Glasgow’s Princes Square, I noticed that,
while the escalators were still running, there were no other shoppers (or late diners) riding them.
As I photographed the geometrics of the rider-less escalators, I thought I heard…
Otis-1: Ahhh, so nice to be runnin’ light for a while, eh, laddies?
Otis-2: Aye, that’s a fact. No more lassies with their stiletto heels getting caught in me treads.
Otis-3: That’s nuthin, Otis-2. Yesterday one o’ those infernal Goths got his toe-piercin’
stuck between me plates. Shoulda heard the bugger cursin’ an' screamin’!
Otis-4: And those kids with chocolaty fingers makin’ me rubbers sticky!
Otis-5: You think that’s nasty? Some fool dropped his take-away tapas ‘tween me steps. Argggghhhh!
Otis-6: Well, lets enjoy our quiet time for a while, lads. It’ll all start up again on the morrow…
