Insects in my back garden (4) : Volucella bombylans

I made a little walk in my back garden and discovered a lot of insects. Although most of them were very lively, I could shoot a few of them.

Here’s the 4th shot : Volucella bombylans , a hoverfly that looks like a bumble bee (it has no specific English name).

It seems the poor little fellow here is missing a leg…

Dutch name : Hommelzweefvlieg
German name : Hummelschwebfliege
Latin name : Volucella bombylans
