Very well spotted, my dear Sabine, the empty chairs around is somewhat a symbol and it was what really pushed me to bring up this photo...God looks so much deserted in our time..
man is man. all too human. liable to make mistakes. he's come a long way, though. on a whim he raised himself up on his hindlegs and started to use his hands to be both cruel and creative. art, science, war… you name it. he's come a long way, man. per aspera ad astra, he thinks. yet the ape is pulling him down all the time, without effort: per aspera ad astra… and back! round trip in no time… man's a great expert in coming undone and returning to square one. but i guess god is there all along, at his side, benevolently shaking his head at his shortcomings and holding out his hand to this perfectly imperfect creation of his, chuckling delightedly at his modern sisyphus whose stone doesn't even need a push, as, forever self-destrutive, he pushes it down the hill himself, each time he's made considerable progress! ; )) – – jesus on the cross, gloriously, symbolically, surrounded by the empty chairs of his disciples (?) – a strong image! greetings, sabine.
A picture with great meaning.........
If only ALL religions would learn to be tolerant of each other... and live in harmony.
God is God, what ever name we call him by.
a very meaningful image and words - especially at this time of the year .... great composition catching the beam of light as it falls on the cross, and details and textures are excellent !!!
greetings, Adele
