Just a pigeon
Pigeons are distributed everywhere on earth, except for the driest areas of the Sahara desert, Antarctica and the high Arctic. They have also colonised nearly all of the world’s most isolated oceanic islands.
With 309 species, it’s a bird family that has adapted gradually to a great variety of different habitats on the planet.
The species in the shot is a Rock Pigeon which has been domesticated for several thousand years, giving rise to the well known Domestic Pigeon.
