Lamassu (Human-headed winged lion)

Monumental stone lammasu, or guardian figures, from the Northwest Palace of the Assyrian king Ashurnasirpal II. 883–859 B.C.; Neo-Assyrian period. These lamassi protected and supported important doorways in Assyrian palaces.
