We came around the corner and there they were, 6 lions catching the last rays of the sun. At that time I only owned a 135mm lens and they were at the most 2 meters away from the car, this one 1 meter. I was slightly weak in the knees as I remembered seeing the holes in the car of the legendary Peter Stark, one of the first game wardens in Etoscha.He had tried to protect his prized dressage horse from a lion attack. He was a giant of a man both figuratively and literally, had steel blue eyes and knew no fear. He patrolled (on foot and on horeseback) the Etosha Pan, at that time very much larger than now, against poachers.

Cathy,ein wunderschoenes Exemplar und ein praechtiges Foto. Habe ich heute gelacht, als ich deine neuen Bilder sah, ich haette den Partner fuer deine Loewin, leider wurde mein Prachtexpamplar gestern im Tiergarten und nicht in der freien Wildbahn aufgenommen.
