I would actually blur the image somewhat in the background and use sharpen mask to highlight foreground....or perhaps make the entire image more surreal by blurring with slight motion. What about a warmer filter (photoshop etc)

Mmmm... potentially a great pic but I think a lot more could have been done with this - eg. sharpness is lacking.
