LOOKING A LOT ...BACKWARDS.....!!!!!!

The "CUP-BEARER"
The almond-shaped head is set almost perpendicular to the cylindrical neck.
There are no sexual characteristics.
The left arm is bent at the elbow and the forearm brought onto the abdomen.
The outstretched right arm, with the slightly flexed elbow, proffers a small beaker. The freely extended hand is an extremely rare feature in Cycladic sculpting.
Special figurine of canonical type.

what a masterpiece! it could very well be a piece of modern/post-modern art because of its amazing contemporary looks! beautifully photographed, too, with the little shadow beneath the chair and all the other figurines in their showcases in the back – she/he seems to be enjoying an afternoon cup of antique… wine in the company of his/her friends! ; )). greetings, sabine. p.s.: your profile shot is scary!Kaith Kakavouli 15/01/2011 20:01
