Maracanã Stadium - The biggest. / Series: Architecture of Rio.
The Stadium Jornalista Mario Filho, known as Maracanã Stadium (name of the district where it is and the name of the river in front of one of its two main entrances), was built for the World Soccer Championship in 1950.
It is the biggest stadium of the world, having capacity for 200.000 people.
In its area that is as well, a smaller covered stadium (the Maracanãzinho = Little Maracanã) and a olimpic pools complex.
