Minaret of Jameh Mosque in Isfahan

Masjed-e J?me’ is the oldest Friday mosque in Iran, located in the historical centre of Isfahan.
The monument illustrates a sequence of architectural construction and decorative styles of different periods in Iranian Islamic architecture, covering 12 centuries, most predominantly the Abbasid, Buyid, Seljuq, Ilkhanid, Muzzafarid, Timurid and Safavid eras. The mosque became the prototype of a distinctive Islamic architectural style.

  Die Bauweise stammt aus der Zeit der Safawiden. In der dieser Architektur unter Schah Abbas I. erreichte die iranische Architektur im Baukomplex einen Höhepunkt ihrer Entwicklung. Bei der im frühen 17. Jahrhundert entstandenen Moschee war auch die Außenseite der großen Kuppeln der Minarette mit einem Mosaik aus glasierten Fayence-Kacheln in feinen Arabeskenmustern und geometrisierten Kalligrafien verkleidet.
