Today, november 11th, Armistice Day.

May we never forget…….!

*****

Tyne Cot Cemetery at Passendale (Belgium) on the battlefields where in 1917 one of the bloodiest battles of WWI took place in Flanders fields.

With 11.956 (!) white gravestones, it is the largest British war cemetery in the world.
70% of all buried soldiers are unknown and the inscription on their graves reads : "known only to God"
Many soldiers who died were only 18 years old, always someone’s child…….

My shot shows only a VERY SMALL part of this immense sad place, where It's difficult to hold back your tears when you go around here.....

11956 young people died because a man wanted to rule the world
And history repeats itself again and again

Diesen traurigen Ort hast Du bestens eingefangen.

A picture that makes me very thoughtful. Especially when you consider that thousands of young people are losing their lives in war in the middle of Europe again today.
    Best regards Reinhard
